Why it exists

You can see it. You just can’t search it — until now.

Stuck on screen

Courses, ebooks, and training portals show you the content — but give you no file, no export, no Ctrl-F.

CapDrop

One searchable PDF

CapDrop captures what’s on your screen, page by page, and binds it into a PDF you can Ctrl-F — even if no file ever existed.

General category comparison, not a claim about any specific product — capabilities vary by tool and version. Many free and paid tools capture beautifully; CapDrop’s focus is the done-for-you path from pages to one searchable, cropped document.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What makes the PDF "searchable"?+

CapDrop runs OCR (optical character recognition) on every captured page and lays the recognized words as an invisible text layer behind the image. The page looks exactly like the original, but you can Ctrl-F to find text, select and copy it, and your OS can index it. It is 100% local — the OCR runs on your PC, nothing is uploaded.

What happens when the 7-day trial ends?+

You can keep using CapDrop. The free engine still captures and turns pages and bundles them into an image-only PDF or GIF. The two things that lock are the paid differentiators: searchable text (OCR) and auto-crop. Buy a license and they switch on instantly.

Can CapDrop capture Netflix, Disney+, Kindle, or other DRM-protected content?+

No, and we will not add this. DRM-protected video players (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, etc.) block screenshots at the OS level — CapDrop respects that block. Kindle reader app pages are similarly protected. CapDrop is for content you own or have the right to capture: recorded lectures from your school, slide decks you authored, training videos your company gave you, DRM-free PDFs and e-books you purchased, your own desktop work. We will not help you bypass copy protection on someone else's work.

Can I get a refund?+

Yes. Within 7 days, just email us — no questions, no forms. We usually process refunds within 2-3 business days.

Do you support Mac?+

Not yet. We are Windows-first because the unsolved screenshot workflow is biggest on Windows. Mac is on the roadmap once v1 is stable.

Can I transfer my license to another PC?+

Yes. One license = up to 2 active PCs. Buying a new laptop? Deactivate the old one in your dashboard, activate the new.

I lost my license key — how do I find it again?+

Open the purchase confirmation email you received after checkout and click the "Access purchase" button — it takes you to a permanent page with your license key and benefits. Lost the email too? Email support@capdrop.app from the address you bought with, and we will resend the access link.

I found a bug or have a feature request — where do I send it?+

Email support@capdrop.app. I read every message myself, and bugs typically land in the next patch (1-2 weeks). To help us fix it fastest, please include: (1) your Windows version, (2) your CapDrop version (Settings → About), (3) steps to reproduce or a quick screenshot.

Where do my screenshots go?+

Your PC, full stop. We never see them. Want a custom folder? Settings → Save Location lets you choose where captures go. No cloud upload, no telemetry on capture content.

Can I save captures as PDF instead of PNG?+

Yes. Settings → Default save format → PDF. Every new capture is written directly as a one-page PDF — no "Print to PDF" detour, no separate convert step. The floating card you drag is already a document, so it slots straight into government e-filings, tax portals, contract templates, and internal approval forms that reject image attachments. PNG and JPG stay available; flip between them any time.

What about team or company licenses?+

Reach out — we will set up a custom bulk license. 5+ seats get roughly 20% off.

Does it work with Teams, Zoom, browsers?+

Anywhere that accepts dragged files. That is basically all of them — Slack, Discord, Teams, Notion, Gmail, Outlook, every chat app, every browser composer.

Will the price go up?+

Yes. After 6 months we move to $29. Buy now and you are locked at $19 with all future updates included.

How is CapDrop different from other screenshot or capture tools?+

Most tools are great at capturing a screen — then hand you a folder of loose images and leave the rest to you. CapDrop hands you a finished, searchable document instead. • Free snipping tools: capture only — you still crop, OCR elsewhere, and stitch the PDF by hand. • Paid capture suites: powerful editors, but few do a walk-away interval + auto-keypress that binds a long run into one searchable PDF on its own. • CapDrop: set an interval + a page key, walk away, and get back ONE PDF — auto-cropped, with a real OCR text layer you can Ctrl-F. • $19 once. Lifetime. 2 PCs. 100% local. Single-shot drag-to-share floating cards included as a bonus.

It’s on your screen.
